We Return Fighting – Exploring French and African American Experience During WWI and WWII

We Return Fighting is a temporary exhibition at the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). The exhibition interprets life experiences of African Americans during World War I era, but also World War II through the Civil Rights Movement. 

The event is organized by the FACC's Women in Leadership Committee.

Curator:

Krewasky Salter serves as NMAAHC’s Special Guest Curator of Military History and is also the lead curator of the exhibit We Return Fighting.  In 2018, Krewasky traveled to France to collect and arrange for the loan of several artifacts which are currently displayed in the exhibit.  We are pleased to have him curate a special online presentation for the FACC and invite you to join in discussions that will explore the African American and French experience/relationships during WWI and WWII, highlight acts of bravery and bestowed honors, and lastly celebrate the exchange of culture that still exist today.

After a short presentation feel free to ask questions and/or share a story or experience.  Also be sure to chill a bottle of your favorite beverage for a French/American celebratory toast to end the evening.
