Freedom, Equality and Fraternity through a Franco-American Prism

For nearly 250 years, the French and Americans have had a strong friendship based on common values established at the founding of the United States and the modern French Republic. Yet, although our values may be similar, our interpretation of them is entrenched in historical and cultural contexts inherent to each country. These differences have been displayed in the citizens of each country’s handling of current socio-cultural and political events. Join us for a panel discussion with four Franco-American intercultural consultants based in Washington DC and Paris, and co-authors of the article “Freedom, Equality and Fraternity through a Franco-American Prism” during which we will explore how these similarities and differences often cause cultural misperceptions and misunderstandings.
