HOST COMPANY INFORMATION

J-1 Visa Host Company

In order to be eligible to host an Intern or Trainee through the FACC's International Career Development Programs, the host company must:

  • Be a member of the local FACC chapter in the United States for the entire duration of the J-1 visa program.
  • Be a part of the business sector; i.e., schools, churches, hospitals, restaurants and government institutions are not eligible.
  • Have sufficient structure to provide proper supervision for the exchange visitor.
  • Provide a stipend to the participant at least equivalent to the local prevailing minimum wage (local, state or federal; whichever is highest).
  • Develop an eligible Form DS-7002 Training/Internship Placement Plan and ensure that it is carried out by the exchange visitor during his or her stay in the U.S.
  • Ensure that the exchange visitor is participating in the program on a full-time basis; at least 35 hours per week.
  • Ensure that the exchange program does not constitute employment, or constitute work that could be performed by a regular employee. Submit a final evaluation of the participant, and a midpoint evaluation for any program over six months.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide the exchange visitor with an American experience in the workplace and through cultural activities. Agree not to hire the participant during, or at the end of, the J-1 visa program.

Thanks to our State Department designation, FACC New York is able to offer three distinct J-1 visa programs: Intern, Trainee and VIE. Please contact the New York Chapter to determine which program is right for you.

Please be sure that all application forms are signed in the appropriate areas, and that you include obligatory information such as your Dun & Bradstreet and Employer Identification Numbers as required by Federal Regulations. We strongly recommend that any new participating host companies contact the ICDP department before submitting any documents to determine your eligibility and to schedule a site visit, if required.
