CANDIDATE INFORMATION

Trainee or Intern Candidate (J-1 Visa)

In order to be eligible for a J-1 visa through the FACC's International Career Development Programs, the candidate must:

  • Be a foreign national (European for the VIE program) currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, a foreign post-secondary school or degree-granting institution.
  • Speak English proficiently enough to participate in a professional exchange program in the United States. Be 18 to 35 years of age (18 to 28 for the VIE program).
  • Have received an internship or training offer from an eligible host company that corresponds to his or her studies.
  • Not have held a previous J-1 Training visa in the United States in the last two years (please contact the FACC if you have held a previous J-1 Intern or Trainee visa to determine your eligibility).
  • Have medical insurance coverage for the entire duration of the J-1 visa per U.S. federal regulations.
  • Agree to leave the United States upon J-1 visa program completion.

Thanks to their State Department designation, the FACC New York is able to offer three distinct J-1 visa programs: Intern, Trainee and VIE. Please contact the New York Chapter to determine which program is right for you.

We strongly recommend that all applicants contact the ICDP department at the FACC New York Chapter before submitting any documents to determine your eligibility and to discuss the program requirements. A telephone interview in English with each applicant will also be conducted before approval.
